Pregnancy Watch – Week 17

I am 17 weeks in.  I was all ready to write a post about the nearly debilitating headaches I have had this week, the gross melasma (hormone induced skin discoloration) all over my legs and the acne-like-I-am-13 that sprouted up about Wednesday … but then I remembered … this is the week I started to feel the little sucker moving around.  It started early this week.  At first, I wasn’t 100% certain that what I was feeling was baby or … you know … gas.  But by about Wednesday, I had definite sustained movement.  Baby movement!  The best.

I guess I am going to complain about one thing, as much as I love baby movement, the major bad headaches this week have sort of overshadowed the joy of feeling the little bugger squirming around.  Geez, they’ve been BAD.  I got pretty awful headaches when I was pregnant with Aiman, but these make those headaches seem like a walk in the park.  They’ve really laid me out.  I’ve had the whole nausea, sensitivity to light, pain when I move my head from side to side (no mom – I don’t have meningitis!  Don’t worry!)  It has sucked.  Big time.

I keep having visions of that creepy Hannibal Lecter movie where he keeps that guy alive as he fries up his brains and eats them.  My brains currently feel like they are being eaten by Hannibal Lecter!  Not good.

Luckily, things seem to be looking up.  I woke up this morning feeling pretty ok.  I have some residual pain at the base of my skull (which is where a lot of my headaches have been centered), but mostly I feel better so hopefully I don’t get anymore of those nasties.  It has made this week … difficult.

But … BABY MOVEMENT!  It’s all worth it of course, but I’ll probably never let this one drive the car.  Each request will be met with … well, I don’t know, maybe if you hadn’t given my those HORRIBLE, DEBILITATING, BRAIN EATING FEELING headaches, I would let you borrow the car, but since you did … sorry, take the bus.
